Saltwater pool compatibility: what each maker actually states
Almost every robotic pool cleaner is marketed as saltwater compatible, but only some makers put a number on it, and the numbers live in very different places. Of the four brands behind the pool robots we publish pages for, three publish a salinity ceiling, clustered between 4,000 and 5,000 PPM, and one says nothing about salt anywhere in its official manual. One of those ceilings sits in user manuals rather than on any spec page, which is why it is easy to conclude, wrongly, that no figure exists. This guide maps what each maker publishes, quoting the wording and naming the document it came from. We have not tested any of these machines in salt water or anywhere else.

What the claim is actually about
Saltwater compatible is a claim about two separate things, and makers tend to publish only the first. The first is whether the robot will run in the water at all, which for a sealed cordless machine is rarely in doubt. The second is what dissolved salt does to the parts over years: seals, bearings, brush and roller rubber, exposed fasteners, and above all the exposed charging contacts, which on a cordless robot are metal pins that sit in the water during every cycle and then dry in air. That second question is the one a salinity ceiling and a rinse instruction are trying to answer.
The useful test when reading a maker's claim is therefore whether it publishes three things: a yes or no, a numeric ceiling, and a maintenance instruction. Only one brand in this set publishes all three in one place. A second publishes a ceiling in its user manuals with warranty language attached on two models. A third publishes a ceiling with an assurance and no maintenance instruction. The fourth publishes none of it.
Note also what a ceiling is a ceiling on. Salinity is quoted in parts per million of dissolved salt, and for the models we cover the published figures cluster between 4,000 and 5,000 PPM. A separate Aiper article for a model outside our set quotes a mass percentage that converts to an order of magnitude higher, and it conflicts with Aiper's own manuals. Comparing any of these requires reading the units, which is the whole point of the section that puts them side by side.
Beatbot: 5,000 PPM, published per product page and brand-wide
Beatbot publishes its saltwater statement in the FAQ accordion on individual product pages rather than in a spec table. On the AquaSense 2 page, the question Can the AquaSense 2 clean saltwater pools? is answered: AquaSense 2 is capable of cleaning saltwater pools. As long as the concentration of saltwater is required to be below 5000PPM. It then adds a claim about typical pools that no other maker in this set makes: after our research, almost all household swimming pools will not exceed this limit.
The AquaSense 2 Ultra page carries the same statement in the same form, including the design assurance: we have fully considered the saltwater environment in our product design, followed by the same almost-all-household-pools line. Our spec record for the Ultra reflects it, noting compatibility with above-ground and in-ground pools of all shapes and with saltwater up to 5000 PPM.
The AquaSense 2 Pro product page is the odd one out: searching it for salt, salinity and PPM returned nothing, where the same search on the base and Ultra pages returned the sentences quoted above. Beatbot does answer the question for the family elsewhere. Its help center states, in brand-wide wording, our product can be safely used in saltwater with a concentration not exceeding 5000 ppm and a chlorine content not higher than 4 ppm, and its AquaSense 2 series collection page shows a saltwater FAQ answered yes, our robot can be safely used in salt water with a concentration not exceeding 5000 ppm alongside the Pro's product block, though that page interleaves FAQs across models, so the per-model attribution is not clean. The practical reading: the family-wide 5,000 PPM statement exists, and the Pro's own product page is the only one of the three that does not repeat it. Beatbot publishes no rinse instruction alongside the salinity limit on any of these pages, and no warranty language tied to salt.

Wybot: 4,000 PPM, a rinse instruction and a stated wear consequence
Wybot publishes the most complete answer in the set, and it is the only one that names a consequence rather than just a limit. Its official FAQ page answers the question Will my WYBOT work in a salt water swimming pool? with: Yes, our WYBOT robots can be used in saltwater pools. Overtime the saltwater can cause premature wear and tear to the robot's wearable components, therefore we recommend rinsing the robot with sweet water (tap water) after each cycle. For optimal use and maintenance, the salinity levels should not be above 4,000 P.P.M.
Three things are worth pulling out of that. The scope is the whole brand rather than a model, so it reads onto both the C2 Vision and the S2 Solar as published. The 4,000 PPM figure is framed as being for optimal use and maintenance rather than as a hard operating limit, which is softer phrasing than a ceiling but is still the lowest published number of the set. And the rinse instruction is not optional advice bolted on: it is presented as the mitigation for the wear that Wybot itself says salt causes.
Wybot's general cleaning FAQ on the same page reinforces the routine independently of salt, saying to remove and rinse the filter, brushes and any other removable parts after each use. We found no salt-specific warranty exclusion published on the FAQ page. What Wybot does not publish anywhere we could find is which components it counts as wearable, or what the difference in service life is between a salt pool and a chlorine pool.

Aiper: 5,000 PPM in the manuals, silence on the spec pages
If you read only Aiper's US spec pages, you will conclude Aiper publishes nothing on salt, and you will be wrong. The Scuba S1 US spec page publishes a Types of Pools block that is specific about everything except salt: ideal pool type in-ground, pool size 1600 sq ft and 50 ft in length, applicable pool material concrete, fibreglass, vinyl and tiles, and no line for saltwater, salinity, chlorine or pH. The store listing for the same model is equally silent. The answer is in the user manuals instead.
All four Aiper models we publish pages for carry the same water conditions block in their user manuals: temperature 50 to 95 degrees F (10 to 35 degrees C), pH 7.0 to 7.4, chlorine maximum 4 ppm, and NaCl maximum 5000 ppm. The framing differs by model in a way worth noticing. The Scuba S1 and Scuba S1 Pro manuals attach warranty language: do not use the device in a pool environment beyond the conditions described below, doing so may cause damage to the device that will not be covered by your warranty. The Scuba SE manual frames the same four values as a recommendation: for optimal performance, Aiper recommends using your device in the following water conditions. The Seagull Pro manual says the cleaner is best used in the water conditions detailed below. Same numbers, three different levels of obligation. A sourcing note in the house style: the Seagull Pro manual is linked from Aiper's US safety-precautions page, while the S1, S1 Pro and SE manuals we read are multi-language Euro-spec PDFs on Aiper's own CDN, linked from Aiper's product documentation hub; Aiper publishes no separate US-spec manual figures that we found.
Two details in that block deserve their own sentence. Aiper's pH window of 7.0 to 7.4 is narrower than the 7.0 to 7.8 Wybot publishes, and narrower than most residential pool guidance, so on a salt pool running a typical 7.4 to 7.6, Aiper's manual window is the binding constraint before salt ever is. And the 5,000 PPM NaCl ceiling is the same number Beatbot publishes, which puts three of the four brands within 1,000 PPM of each other.
Separately, Aiper's troubleshooting blog carries a model-specific article for the Scuba V3, which is not a model we publish a page for, stating: Yes, the Scuba V3 is rated for saltwater pools up to 3% NaCl concentration (standard residential chlorinator output). Three percent NaCl by mass is 30,000 PPM, six times the 5,000 PPM ceiling in Aiper's own manuals for the four models we cover, while the parenthetical beside it describes standard residential chlorinator output, which is not what 30,000 PPM is. We are not going to adjudicate Aiper's internal conflict; we note it and quote both. The article earns its link for the care routine, which is the most detailed in this set: rinse the entire chassis including wheel wells, brush roll and filter cavity with fresh tap water for 60 seconds, rinse the filter basket separately, dry the charging contact pins with a clean cloth, clean salt crystals off the two rear charging pins with a dry cotton swab and never an abrasive tool, and apply a light coat of dielectric grease on the pins before seasonal storage.

Polaris: no salt statement, a temperature window and a chemistry warning
Polaris is the outlier, and the absence is in the manual rather than in marketing copy. The official EPIC series owner's manual, document H0699900 Rev A, published by Zodiac Pool Systems and covering the EPIC 8642 iQ, contains no saltwater compatibility statement, no salinity limit, and no water chemistry table of any kind. There is no pH range, no free chlorine range, no total alkalinity, calcium hardness or cyanuric acid figure.
What the manual does publish are three things that bear on water chemistry indirectly. The first is a hard operating window on temperature: do not use the product in your pool if the water temperature is above 95 degrees F (35 degrees C) or below 55 degrees F (13 degrees C). The second is a troubleshooting row that treats chemistry as a diagnosis rather than a spec. Under the symptom the cleaner is not climbing walls, one listed possible cause is confirm appropriate pool chemistry, with the suggested solution being to speak with your pool service professional and, stated as a separate instruction, do not leave cleaner in the pool during any chemical treatments. The third is the warranty framing at the front of the manual, which states that a poor installation and/or operation may void the warranty, without naming water chemistry as an example.
The practical reading is that Polaris tells you to keep the cleaner out of the water while chemicals are being added and to have a professional confirm the chemistry, but never states a salinity number or whether a salt-chlorinated pool is within scope. Note also that Polaris publishes no MSRP for this model and routes buyers to a dealer, so a dealer is the realistic place to get a written answer on salt for a specific installation.

The published ceilings side by side
Set out together, the ceilings cluster and the documentation does not. Three brands sit within 1,000 PPM of each other: Wybot at 4,000 PPM, Beatbot and Aiper both at 5,000 PPM. What differs is everything around the number. Wybot pairs its figure with the only stated wear consequence and a rinse routine. Aiper pairs its figure with warranty language on two models and a narrow pH window, and publishes its detailed care routine in a blog article for a model outside our set. Beatbot pairs its figure with an assurance that almost all household pools sit under it, and no maintenance instruction. Polaris publishes no figure at all.
If you own a salt pool and are choosing between these, the honest position is that the published record does not let you rank them on salt tolerance. Ceilings 1,000 PPM apart, framed as an optimal-use figure by one maker, a capability boundary by another and a warranty condition by a third, are not a like-for-like comparison. What the record does support is a shorter instruction: find your own machine's maker statement in the document where it actually lives, manual included, follow its rinse guidance if it publishes one, and adopt Wybot's or Aiper's rinse routine voluntarily if yours does not, since neither maker's instruction can harm a machine that did not need it.

Where the record has gaps
Four gaps are worth naming so this reads as no more complete than it is. First, only Aiper ties its ceiling to a stated consequence in warranty terms, and even that is generic: damage beyond the stated conditions not covered. No maker publishes what actually happens above its ceiling as an engineering matter: no stated failure mode, no reduced service life figure, no component list. Wybot's premature wear and tear to wearable components is the closest anyone comes, and it does not say which components or over what period.
Second, the statements live in inconsistent places, which is why the answer is hard to find and why absence claims about it are risky. Beatbot's lives in per-product FAQ accordions plus a brand-wide help center. Wybot's is on a single brand-wide FAQ page with no model qualification. Aiper's lives in user manuals, three of which we could only read as multi-language Euro-spec PDFs from Aiper's documentation hub, and appears nowhere on the US spec pages a shopper would actually read. Polaris publishes it nowhere. None of the four puts salinity in the spec table where a buyer would look.
Third, Aiper's own record conflicts with itself. Its manuals publish NaCl maximum 5000 ppm for the four models we cover, while its Scuba V3 troubleshooting article publishes up to 3% NaCl, which is 30,000 PPM, and glosses that as standard residential chlorinator output. Salt chlorinator pools typically run far below either figure, but the two Aiper numbers differ by six times and no Aiper page reconciles them. We quote both and adjudicate neither.
Fourth, the Beatbot AquaSense 2 Pro's own product page carries no saltwater statement while the base and Ultra pages both do. Beatbot's brand-wide help center wording, our product can be safely used in saltwater not exceeding 5000 ppm, reads onto the family, and its series collection page shows the same answer near the Pro's block, so we treat the family as covered by the brand-wide statement. But a written per-model confirmation for the Pro is still the item in this guide we would most want from a maker, and the absence on its own page is worth knowing about before buying that specific model for a salt pool.
