Navimow stuck or keeps stopping: every cause, traced
A Navimow that halts on the lawn is reporting one of several different conditions, and Segway documents each of them in a separate help center article with its own fix sequence. This guide walks those causes in the order they are cheapest to check, quoting Segway's own support articles rather than owner folklore. We have not hardware-tested any of these machines, and where Segway publishes no article for a model or a symptom, that gap is stated rather than filled.

Three different failures, one word
Owners say stuck for at least three conditions that Segway's support site treats separately. One is mechanical: the drive wheels are physically blocked and the mower cannot move. One is protective: the machine is capable of moving but has stopped itself, for a blade motor over-current, a lifting trigger, or a low battery. One is positional: the mower has lost enough satellite accuracy that it will not commit to the planned path. The fix sequences Segway publishes for the three do not overlap, so naming the failure first saves the most time.
One structural note about the source material. Segway's Navimow help center is organised by product family, with a full article set for the Navimow i series and another for the Navimow H series. When we checked on 2026-08-06 there was no equivalent X series troubleshooting section, which means owners of the Segway Navimow X350 are reading articles written against the i and H hardware. We flag that rather than pretend the guidance is model-matched. Where an article is H series only, we say so in the text.
Cause one: the wheels are physically blocked
Segway's i series article on wheels that are stuck and cannot move lists two checks in order. First, whether the tire is covered by a lot of mud or grass clippings, whether foreign items are stuck between the tire and the fender, and whether anything is wrapped around the motor shaft, cleaning the tire and its attachments if so. Second, whether the wheel is stuck in soft ground such as sand or gravel, or in a deep ditch. For that second case Segway's published remedy is to set the soft ground as an off-limit island in the app, or to fill in the ditches so the surface is even and flat. If the wheel itself is damaged, the article routes to the dealer for after-sales service.
The H series article for error code 3001, which Segway describes as hub motor stall protection, is the most detailed version of the same diagnosis. It lists three possible causes: the hub motor is stuck or the shaft is entangled by foreign objects, the mower is stuck in a place where the hub motor receives the command to rotate but cannot move, and a heavy object sitting on top of the mower. Each carries its own sequence, and each ends the same way: press STOP to clear the code, then press HOME and OK together and watch whether the code reappears while the mower returns to the charging station. For the recurring version, Segway's stated preventive step is to set an off-limit island where the mower frequently gets stuck.
The practical read is that Segway treats a repeat offender location as a mapping problem, not a driving problem. The published answer to a spot that traps the machine every week is to draw it out of the map.
- Mud, clippings, or foreign items on the tire, between tire and fender, or around the motor shaft.

Cause two: traction and the slope at the lawn edge
Segway's i series article on the mower going beyond the designated boundary opens with traction: if the tires are covered in excessive mud or grass clippings, the machine can lose traction and move outside the boundary, so the article's first instruction is to keep the tires clean. Its second check is the boundary itself. Segway advises checking whether the mowing boundary is set on a slope and, if it is, adjusting the boundary so the slope along it does not exceed a 10 percent incline.
That number is worth holding next to the spec sheet. Segway publishes the Navimow i110N at 30 percent (17 degrees) maximum slope ability with a separate 10 percent (6 degrees) limit at the boundary, so the support article's advice is the datasheet's boundary figure restated as a mapping instruction. Segway publishes the Navimow X350 at 50 percent (27 degrees) with a 25 percent (14 degrees) boundary limit. The same article closes on two navigation causes that also produce edge failures: a weak positioning signal combined with an unclear boundary, for which Segway suggests removing anything covering or surrounding the antenna and establishing clearer physical boundaries such as small fences, and a dirty camera, which it says can leave the mower struggling to detect the boundary while taking obstacle avoidance actions.
Cause three: satellite positioning
Segway's H series article on weak satellite signal is the clearest published account of what the machine does when positioning degrades. It lists a flashing blue ambient light for a signal that is not ideal but usable and a flashing yellow light for a poor signal. It states that with VisionFence not installed or turned off, the mower returns to the charging station automatically if the weak signal lasts more than one minute, searching for signal as it goes and resuming if the signal recovers. With VisionFence installed and on, it says the mower keeps mowing the planned path and only starts moving randomly to retrieve the positioning signal after sustained poor accuracy. It also names the symptom set that follows weak signal: running into an off-limit island or outside the boundary, location-related error codes including 6010, 7006 and 6002, and unexpected zigzags in a map built under an unstable signal.
The published placement guidance in that article is specific. Choose an open area with no walls blocking the view in any direction, keep the sky directly above the antenna clear of trees and roofs, and if full openness is impossible keep at least the southern sky clear in the Northern Hemisphere, or the northern sky in the Southern Hemisphere, with east and west clear where possible. If those cannot be met, Segway points first to the antenna extension pole and then to mounting the antenna on a roof with the Antenna Extension Kit. The i series article on poor antenna reception adds the app-side tool: the Satellite Signal Analyzer, which shows a satellite distribution map so the antenna and charging station placement can be assessed.
One basis caveat matters here. The antenna guidance is written for Navimow units fitted with a GNSS antenna. The Navimow i110N is published as RTK GPS plus vision over Network RTK, which Segway states needs no base antenna, so on that model the antenna placement steps do not apply and the sky-view logic attaches to the mower itself. Cause four: VisionFence decides the ground is not lawn
A Navimow that refuses to cross a specific strip every single time is usually not stuck at all. Segway's i series article on a mower refusing to pass through certain areas attributes the behaviour to VisionFence, which classifies what it sees as grass or non-grass. The article lists the surfaces that trigger avoidance: narrow grass areas with a width of one metre or less, bare lawn areas, gravel paths, slate paths, and other non-grass surfaces. Segway's published remedy is to define a VisionFence-off zone over that area in the Navimow app so the camera stops reading it as an obstacle.
This is the cause most often misread as a fault, because the machine is behaving exactly as its documentation says it should. The tell is repeatability: a physical entrapment happens in different places as the pattern shifts, while a VisionFence classification refusal happens at the same strip on every run.
Cause five: it did not get stuck, it went home or paused itself
Segway's i series article on the mower returning to the charging station without completing its task lists three causes. A battery level below 15 percent, at which the mower automatically returns to recharge. The end of a scheduled mowing window, at which it stops and returns. And a VisionFence camera that is dirty or carrying persistent water on the lens, which the article says can make the mower pause and return as a precaution, resuming in the next scheduled slot once the lens is cleaned or dry.
A mower that keeps driving but stops cutting is a different article again. Segway's i series entry on blades that stop rotating lists three causes: normal behaviour, since the mower does not cut while returning to the station, while travelling to the start point of a boundary, or while passing through a channel to the next area; cutting motor over-current protection, which the article says triggers when grass is too thick, with the published remedy being to raise the mowing height or to trim the lawn to 6 cm or lower with another tool first; and a foreign object stuck in the blade disc, which it says should be cleaned out.
For repeated lifting alerts, Segway's H series article names a single cause, the front universal wheel getting stuck, and publishes a physical remedy: power off with the OK button, invert the mower, pull the rod until the rubber cover shows, slide the cover up and lubricate the metal part beneath it. If the alerts do not drop off after that, the article routes to the dealer.

When none of the published causes fit
Every article above ends the same way, and it is worth repeating rather than improving on: if the symptom persists after the documented sequence, Segway routes to after-sales service or the dealer. We publish no success rates for any of these steps, because Segway publishes none, and a troubleshooting step without a stated outcome rate is guidance rather than a probability.
