Robot mower blade replacement: the intervals each maker publishes
Blade replacement is one of the better documented robot mower jobs, and one of the worst agreed. Every maker behind the mowers we publish pages for states an interval somewhere in its own support material, but they use three different units, they disagree by a factor of five at the extremes, and two of them contradict themselves across their own pages. Below is what each publishes, cited per brand, followed by the steps they do agree on. These are manufacturer instructions for their own hardware; we have not tested blade wear on any machine.

What each maker publishes
Read as a set, the published intervals run from three weeks to four months. That spread is not a measurement disagreement so much as a difference in what each maker is counting, and in some cases which page you happen to land on.
Husqvarna is the most specific and splits the answer by disc. Its US Automower support guide by season states that main cutting disc blades typically last 3 to 6 weeks and that EdgeCut disc blades last 9 to 12 weeks, because the EdgeCut disc is only activated during edge cutting operations. Segway publishes three different figures across its own channels: its Navimow support portal states that the blades normally need to be replaced when they have worked for 80 hours, and directs owners to Settings, then Mower, then Part Maintenance to check; a second support-portal article states that if the mower is used regularly it is recommended to replace the blades and screws every 1 to 2 months; and Segway's own Navimow site states that robotic mower blades need replacement after 100 to 150 hours of use, depending on quality.
Mammotion publishes two figures on two regional stores. Its US site states that blades should usually be changed every 6 to 8 weeks and recommends changing the blades of professional robot mowers every 6 to 8 weeks to maintain optimal cutting performance. Its UK site states that you should ideally change robotic mower blades every 4 to 6 weeks during the peak growing season, and adds that 4 to 6 weeks is an average estimate rather than a fixed answer. Worx spreads four figures across three of its own properties. Ecovacs states on its US site that robotic lawn mower blades generally last 4 to 6 weeks, and separately that most robot lawn mower blades are recommended for monthly inspection and replacement every four to six weeks. Dreame's support article for the A3 AWD Pro states that it recommends replacing all the blades every 6 to 8 weeks to ensure a good mowing result. Sunseeker's US accessories listing for its cutting disk and blade set states simply: replace every 2 months for optimal cutting results and safety.

Weeks or hours: the unit nobody reconciles
Two makers publish hour-based intervals, and both also publish calendar intervals that do not line up with them. Worx's Landroid maintenance wiki says to replace blades every 1 to 2 months with daily use of the Landroid, or after approximately 100 to 200 operating hours depending on usage conditions. Its own Landroid support pages say to rotate or change blades once every 4 months or as needed, and state that a set of blades can last up to 4 months in ideal conditions but may dull quickly if a yard has lots of sticks or obstacles. Its long-life replacement blade listing states that Landroid blades should be replaced every 3 to 4 months to ensure optimum performance. A Landroid Vision WR208 owner reading those three pages in one sitting gets 1 month, 3 months and 4 months as the answer.
Segway has the same problem in a different arrangement. Its support portal gives 80 hours in one article and 1 to 2 months in another, and its consumer site gives 100 to 150 hours. Neither hour figure converts cleanly to either month figure without assuming a mowing schedule Segway does not state. Owners of a Navimow i110N or Navimow X350 are also reading articles labelled for the Navimow H series, since we found no i-series or X-series blade interval published on Segway's support portal.
The hour-based approach at least has an instrument behind it on two brands. Husqvarna publishes a blade timer in the Automower Connect app and instructs owners to reset it after a blade change, via More, then Statistics, then Blade Usage, then Reset, so the app tracks operating hours from that point. Segway directs owners to Settings, Mower, Part Maintenance for maintenance and replacement suggestions. Neither publishes the hour threshold the app itself uses, so the app is a counter rather than a published standard. For the mowers we track, runtime and charge time determines how quickly those hours accumulate.
The screw rule, which is the one thing they agree on
Five of the seven makers publish the same instruction: replace the screw every time you replace the blade. This is the strongest consensus in the whole set, and two of them state the failure mode it prevents.
Husqvarna says to attach the new blade with a new screw and to always replace the screw at the same time, stating that reusing screws can cause blades to come loose during operation. It repeats the instruction in its spring checklist and again in its winter storage step. Mammotion's UK blade guide is blunter, listing reusing old screws as a common error whose consequence is that the screw loses its thread lock capacity and risks coming loose during mowing, with a risk of blade ejection, and stating that the screws in a blade kit are single use. Ecovacs instructs owners to use only blades manufactured by ECOVACS and new screws when assembling the blades. Segway's blade replacement article says to replace the blades and screws together. Sunseeker sells a kit containing 1 cutting disc, 6 blades and 6 screws, priced and packaged as a set.
Husqvarna adds a second rule that follows from the same physics: never mix different blade types, and never mix new and old blades on the same disc, because it can cause cutting disc imbalance resulting in noise or vibrations. Mammotion echoes the imbalance concern from the other direction, warning that dried grass debris left on the disc creates imbalance and resistance, increasing noise, vibration and motor load. Both makers also state that blades must pivot freely on their screws after fitting: Husqvarna notes that free-spinning blades are correct installation rather than a fault, because a blade that hits a stone or root rotates away to prevent damage, and Mammotion says to verify every installed blade rotates freely without effort and warns against using an electric driver because overtightening prevents the blade from pivoting.

Blade type changes the interval
Part of the spread in published intervals is that the makers are not all describing the same part. Husqvarna's 3 to 6 weeks and 9 to 12 weeks apply to two different discs on the same machine, and the longer figure holds only because the EdgeCut disc runs during edge cutting operations rather than continuously.
Worx sells two blade generations with different published lives. Its long-life replacement blade listing states that standard Landroid blades have one hole for one use, while the long-life blades come with two holes for double the life, and that the long-life blades last three times longer than standard blades. Worx also publishes an automatic mechanism on the machine side: it states that the blade disc automatically inverts its rotation direction on every start to ensure both cutting edges of the cutting blades are used, and that a Landroid ships with 9 replacement blades.
Mammotion publishes a material-based scale on its US site: standard steel blades at 6 to 8 weeks, hardened or coated blades up to 3 months, and specialty blades such as titanium-coated or self-sharpening at 3 months or more, adding that premium blades may last two to three times longer than standard ones, up to 12 weeks or more in gentler lawn conditions. Its UK guide adds that most robotic mower blades are reversible, that both sides can be used, and that reversing them can extend lifespan up to 8 weeks provided the assembly is cleaned thoroughly first. Ecovacs describes the material without an interval split, stating that blades are usually stainless steel with some adding a titanium coating for durability. Dreame publishes a count rather than a material: it states that the A3 AWD Pro 3500 has two cutterdisks with three blades each, six blades in total, and that its blades are designed exclusively for Dreame mowers and should not be fitted to other brands.
Do not sharpen, and how to tell without a timer
Three makers publish an explicit instruction not to sharpen robot mower blades, and each gives a different reason. Segway states that robotic mowers use disposable blades that cannot be sharpened because they are too thin. Mammotion states that for robotic mowers it is generally better to replace than sharpen because the blades are attached with screws and sharpening can cause imbalance affecting mowing performance, and its UK guide adds that a sharpened blade becomes unbalanced and too thin or fragile, increasing the risk of breakage and projection at high speed. Ecovacs states that although sharpening is common for traditional mower blades it is not recommended for robot models because the blades are small and difficult to access.
Since none of the calendar intervals is a hard rule, every maker also publishes symptoms. Husqvarna says to change blades when you notice frayed or whitened grass tips after mowing, or visible signs of wear or damage on the blades, and lists mowing frequency and duration, lawn size and grass type, seasonal growth rate, soil conditions and fertiliser use, and obstacles in the lawn as the factors that move the interval. It adds a spring caveat: grass is richer in sap and grows faster in spring, causing sticky buildup, so blades should be inspected, cleaned or replaced more frequently in that season.
Mammotion's symptom list is the longest: irregular patches where the robot leaves higher grass across the disc width, visibly dull, chipped, bent or rusted edges, an unusual grinding or clacking noise suggesting unbalanced or heavily worn blades or a loose screw, and reduced battery life, on the reasoning that a blunt blade forces the motor to work harder so the robot returns to its charging station more often without a change in weather or grass height. Husqvarna makes the same connection from the battery side, listing replacing blades on time to reduce motor strain among its tips for extending battery life. Dreame's support article for the A3 AWD Pro reaches blade condition third, after checking that grass height is below the set mowing height and that the blade disc is clean and not clogged. Ecovacs adds an obstacle-avoidance angle, stating that its AIVI 3D obstacle avoidance in the GOAT O1000 RTK helps protect the blade by keeping a 2-inch safety gap from walls and hedges.
The procedure, from the published steps only
The step lists are close enough across makers to combine, and where they differ the difference is named. Nothing below is our own method.
One brand-specific trap is worth carrying. Dreame's support article states that long-term use causes grass sap to accumulate where the blades attach to the blade disc, making the blades hard to remove, and instructs cleaning the blade disc with a hose before replacing them. Mammotion adds a washer check: if the mower uses washers, look for old washers or fragments stuck to the disc or fallen off, because an accumulation can stop the new blade pivoting correctly. And timing is a published choice, not just a maintenance habit: Husqvarna instructs replacing the cutting blades and screws before winter storage, stating that fresh blades prevent rust on the cutting disc during storage, then checking the blades again in spring and replacing them if they were not changed at the end of the previous season. - Power the mower off and remove the safety key if the model has one (Mammotion).
- Put on protective gloves. Husqvarna, Segway, Mammotion, Dreame and Sunseeker all state this.
- Turn the mower upside down on a clean, soft surface to protect the cover and sensors (Husqvarna, Segway, Mammotion).
- Rotate the skid plate until its hole aligns with the blade screw (Husqvarna).
- Use a manual cross-tip or flat screwdriver, not an electric driver, to avoid overtightening (Mammotion). Segway describes loosening three screws on its blade assembly.
- Clean the disc with a brush and a soft damp cloth, or a hose where sap has built up (Husqvarna, Mammotion, Dreame).
- Fit each new blade with a new screw, one blade per screw (Husqvarna, Mammotion, Ecovacs, Segway).
- Confirm every blade pivots freely on its screw before turning the mower back over (Husqvarna, Segway, Mammotion).
- Reset the blade timer in the app afterwards: Automower Connect, More, Statistics, Blade Usage, Reset (Husqvarna).
Where the record has gaps
First, the intervals we cite are not all published where you would expect to find them. Husqvarna's figures come from its US Automower support guide by season and its self-service article on changing blades, which is served from its UK and Australia self-service sites. Mammotion's two figures come from its US and UK store blogs rather than from a manual. Segway's hour figures come from support articles labelled for the Navimow H series, not for the i110N or the X350. Sunseeker's 2-month figure comes from an S-Series cutting disk and blade set listing on its US accessories pages, not from an X7 service document. We cite each as published and flag where it sits rather than presenting it as model-specific documentation.
Second, no maker in this set publishes a wear measurement. There is no blade thickness in millimetres below which a blade is spent, no edge radius, no cutting-height deviation, and no torque figure for the screw. Every published trigger is either a calendar interval, an hour count whose threshold the app does not disclose, or a visual symptom such as frayed grass tips. Husqvarna gets closest with the app blade timer, but publishes the counter without publishing the number it is counting toward.
Third, nothing here is priced or quantified per season. No maker publishes how many blade sets a given lawn area consumes in a year, what a season of blades costs, or what a dull blade costs in runtime or battery, even though both Husqvarna and Mammotion state that worn blades increase motor strain and battery use. Mammotion also publishes a general blog stating that a lawn mower blade should ideally be changed once a year, which is written about conventional mowers rather than robots and should not be read across.
