Robot mowers for Bermuda grass: the cutting-height reality
Bermudagrass is mowed low, and that is the whole problem for this category. Two extension services publish a maintained height of 1 to 2 inches for bermudagrass home lawns, and four of the eleven mowers we publish pages for cannot be set below 2 inches at all, with the higher-cut variant of a fifth sitting above 2 inches as well. Below is the extension guidance quoted as published, read against the cutting-height range each manufacturer prints for its own machine. We have not hardware-tested any of these mowers and we give no agronomy advice of our own.

What Clemson and Texas A&M publish for bermudagrass
Clemson Cooperative Extension's Home and Garden Information Center publishes bermudagrass mowing heights in its Bermudagrass Yearly Maintenance Program factsheet, HGIC 1216, originally published in September 2005 and updated November 2, 2018. For May through August it states that the ideal mowing height for bermudagrass is from 1 to 2 inches depending on the specific site and management regime, and that it is best determined by the conditions in the lawn. It advises starting the season at a bench mark setting of 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches, and it publishes a lower January through April setting of around 1 inch. It adds two conditions worth carrying: mowing heights below 1 inch will require a reel type mower to achieve satisfactory results, and once nighttime temperatures fall below 70 degrees F the mower should be raised slightly to allow more leaf surface.
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension publishes the same headline figure by a different route. Its Bermudagrass Home Lawn Management Calendar, ESC-042, states that the recommended mowing height for bermudagrass home lawns is 1 to 2 inches using a rotary mower, and pairs it with the one-third rule, that no more than a third of the leaf tissue should be removed at once. The page was last modified October 9, 2023.
Clemson's separate species factsheet, HGIC 1208 Bermudagrass, updated January 27, 2016, adds context rather than a competing number. It states that during periods of rapid growth, or under an intensive management program, a minimum of twice weekly mowing may be necessary to prevent scalping; that a reel mower produces the highest possible quality stand while a rotary mower will work fine as long as the blades are sharpened regularly; and that thatch buildup can become a problem because of bermudagrass's rapid growth. It publishes one cultivar-specific figure, instructing that TifGrand be mowed at 1 to 2 inches.

Where the two extension sources part company
Texas A&M publishes a second, wider set of figures in a different document, and we are not going to average the two. Mowing Recommendations for Warm-Season Turfgrasses, publication ESC-052 by Becky Grubbs, PhD, Assistant Professor and Turfgrass Extension Specialist with The Texas A&M University System, splits bermudagrass by type in its Table 1. For lawns and public spaces it publishes 1.5 to 3 inches for common bermudagrass (Cynodon dactylon) and 1 to 2.5 inches for hybrid bermudagrass. Its athletic field and golf fairway column drops to 0.75 to 1 inch for common and 0.5 to 1 inch for hybrid, and a table footnote states that those columns, along with the hybrid, dwarf and ultradwarf rows, are best achieved with a reel mower rather than a rotary mower. The PDF carries no printed publication date.
So the same extension system publishes 1 to 2 inches in its bermudagrass lawn calendar and 1.5 to 3 inches for common bermudagrass lawns in its mowing publication. The wider figure is the more permissive one for this category: measured against 1.5 to 3 inches, every mower we publish a page for can be set somewhere inside the range. Measured against the 1 to 2 inch figure that both Clemson and the Texas A&M bermudagrass calendar publish, the field splits hard.
ESC-052 also states the general principle that turfgrasses should be maintained at the higher height of cut for the given species where possible, because taller canopy growth generally corresponds to greater energy production and deeper rooting. That is the extension's reasoning, not ours. Below we use the 1 to 2 inch band as the binding test, because it is the figure both sources publish specifically for bermudagrass home lawns, and note where the wider ESC-052 range changes the verdict.

Published cutting-height minimums, model by model
Here is what each maker prints, with the basis its own page or manual states. On a bermudagrass lawn the minimum is the number that matters, which inverts the St. Augustine case, where the maximum is the gate. Sunseeker publishes the X7 at 0.8 to 4.0 in with electronic height adjustment and a floating cutting deck. Husqvarna publishes the Automower 420 iQ at approximately 1 in minimum to 4 in maximum with electric cutting height adjustment. Mammotion publishes the LUBA 3 AWD 3000 in two height variants sold at the same price: the S Version at 1.0 to 2.7 in and the H Version at 2.2 to 4.0 in.
Three more reach into the band without touching its floor. Dreame publishes the A3 AWD Pro 3500 at 1.2 to 3.9 in, footnoted as measured from blade disc to ground under Dreame lab testing. Ecovacs publishes the GOAT O1000 RTK at 1.2 to 3.2 in, listed on its US spec table as 3 to 8 cm adjustable in 0.5 cm increments with electric height adjustment marked No. Worx publishes the Landroid Vision WR208 at 1.57 to 3.54 in across 11 positions in the owner's manual, rounded to 1.5 to 3.5 in on the web spec table.
Three active models stop at 2 inches. Segway publishes the Navimow i110N at 2 to 3.6 in with manual adjustment and the Navimow X350 at 2 to 4 in with automatic blade height adjustment. Mammotion publishes the YUKA mini 2 1000H at 2.0 to 3.5 in. Two discontinued models complete the record: Mammotion published the LUBA 2 AWD 3000HX H Version at 2.2 to 4.0 in, and EcoFlow published the Blade at 0.8 to 3.0 in in its official manual.

Crossing the two lists
Set the 1 to 2 inch band against those minimums and the field splits three ways. Three active models can be set anywhere inside it: the Sunseeker X7, the Automower 420 iQ and the LUBA 3 AWD 3000 in its S Version. Those three, plus the two whose minimums land at 1.2 in, are the picks above, and the only justification for each is where its published minimum sits.
Three more reach into the band but cannot touch its floor. The Dreame A3 AWD Pro 3500 and the Ecovacs GOAT O1000 RTK both stop at 1.2 in, and the Worx Landroid Vision WR208 at 1.57 in. Each has real room inside 1 to 2 inches, and none can be run at the 1 inch setting Clemson publishes for January through April or at the low end of the summer band.
Four models, plus the higher-cut variant of a fifth, cannot be set inside the band at all. The Navimow i110N, the Navimow X350 and the YUKA mini 2 1000H all start at exactly 2.0 in, which is the ceiling of the range rather than a position inside it. The LUBA 3 AWD 3000 H Version and the discontinued LUBA 2 AWD 3000HX both start at 2.2 in and sit above the band entirely. Measured instead against the ESC-052 figure of 1.5 to 3 inches for common bermudagrass lawns, all five of those machines clear it, which is why the choice of extension figure changes the shopping list rather than just the margin.

The variant trap, and the line below 1 inch
The LUBA 3 AWD 3000 is where this guide could most easily mislead, so read the variant before the spec. Mammotion sells an S Version and an H Version at the same price, published at 1.0 to 2.7 in and 2.2 to 4.0 in respectively. Only the S Version reaches the bermudagrass band. Our model page charts the S Version figures because that is the base configuration, and the H Version range is read from Mammotion's own cutting note. This is the mirror image of the St. Augustine case, where only the H Version reaches the recommended height, so the same two variants swap places depending on which grass you are growing. The second thing to read is the floor beneath the floor. Clemson states that mowing heights below 1 inch will require a reel type mower to achieve satisfactory results, and Texas A&M's ESC-052 marks its sub-1-inch columns as best achieved with a reel mower. Every mower we publish a page for cuts with a rotary blade disc: the X7 with dual cutting discs of three blades each, the Automower 420 iQ with three pivoting razor blades, the YUKA mini 2 1000H with one disc and five pivoting razor blades. Two machines publish minimums below 1 inch, the Sunseeker X7 at 0.8 in and the discontinued EcoFlow Blade at 0.8 in, and both are rotary designs. The published capability exists; the extension guidance for that depth of cut names a different class of mower. We report both and adjudicate neither.
Adjustment mechanism matters more on bermudagrass than on most turf, because Clemson publishes seasonal changes: down to around 1 inch in the January to April window, up slightly once nighttime temperatures fall below 70 degrees F. The Automower 420 iQ publishes electric cutting height adjustment, the Navimow X350 automatic blade height adjustment, and the Sunseeker X7 electronic height adjustment. The Ecovacs GOAT O1000 RTK lists electric height adjustment as No, the Navimow i110N is published as manual, and the YUKA mini 2 1000H's own support article instructs owners to press down and turn the cutting height adjustment knob on the robot before mowing. Where the record has gaps
The most important absence is the one that made the St. Augustine version of this guide possible. UF/IFAS publishes an explicit carve-out for robotic mowers in its St. Augustinegrass publication, citing research on maintaining Floratam at a lower height year round. Neither Clemson factsheet nor either Texas A&M publication we read mentions robotic mowers at all. There is no published extension statement, in these sources, that high-frequency clipping changes the recommended height for bermudagrass. Anyone telling you a robot mower lets you run bermudagrass lower than the published figure is not citing these documents.
Two regional caveats belong on the figures. Clemson states that all its recommendations are for South Carolina conditions and may not apply to other areas. The Texas A&M publications are written for Texas. Bermudagrass is grown across a much wider band than either state, and your own state extension service is the authority for your conditions, not us and not the mower makers.
On the manufacturer side, the absences are the familiar ones. No maker we track publishes a grass-species compatibility statement, a bermudagrass setting, a scalping behaviour claim, or anything about how its machine handles the thatch layer Clemson says bermudagrass builds under rapid growth. Nor does any maker publish how many mowing sessions per week its scheduler will run against Clemson's twice-weekly figure for periods of rapid growth.
